Kary & Charles: The Maternity Session

I had so much fun at today's Maternity Session.

Kary's a friend from work and I've been seeing her little tummy grow every day.

She's due in three weeks so it was definitely time to get some belly shots done just in case little Alexis decides to make an early entrance.

She and Charles were so much fun to work with - and it's wonderful when people invite you into their home and you instantly feel at ease and welcomed.

Kary and Charles, thanks for a great afternoon. I hope you like your sneak peak. Can't wait til Miss Alexis makes her debut so we have another excuse to get together again.

Peggy's Cove

I made a trip out to Peggy's Cove last night. If you've never been, here's a little history.

It was my first time out there for a sunset and it was perfect: the sunset was beautiful, the weather was good, and there weren't too many other folks around - it was almost as though we had the place to ourselves.

I've never worked with the sun like this before, but it was fun experimenting. I still have a few things I'd like to try out - at least it's a good excuse for another trip.

I'm Such a Hypocrite...

...and a poor blogger. I blogstalk regularly and am always disappointed when bloggers don't update.

And here I am, neglecting my poor blog, failing miserably at coming up with things to write about. I'm not shooting very much lately, or can't blog pictures that I AM shooting so that leaves the blog a little dry.

Some bloggers have certain topics they'll post about on certain days: Things I love Thursdays or Fun Fridays or even Sydney Sundays. Maybe that's what I need, topics that I can turn to on a regular basis: Work Wednesday or Moody Mondays? lol, maybe not. Any ideas? Alliteration not required ;-)

My latest favourite pic of the nephew... maybe he's concentrating, trying to come up with topics for me?

Props to the Easter Bunny

...or props from the Easter Bunny - this little guy will hopefully get some use as a prop for some Baby shoots.

A Penny Saved...

The nephew decided today would be a good day to count his pennies. As they say, a penny saved is a penny earned...

He ended up with about $9.00 - enough to take his aunt out for lunch. Maybe next time I'm there for a visit, I'll mention it. He's a saver so he'll likely still have it.

I've become such a Blogstalker...

In the fall of 2008 I discovered photography blogs. How did I not know these existed? I instantly became hooked and started bookmarking my favourites and I go back and visit them regularly. I keep learning new things and coming up with new ideas to steal for photoshoots; so many things I can't wait to try out.

Not only are these folks fantastic wedding and portrait photographers, they're also really neat people. And they're sharers - have a photography question, ask and they'll answer. Here are a few of my favourites:

Jasmine Star - she's a photography Rock Star. Seriously. Everyone follows her blog.

Jamie Delaine
- also an amazing photographer. And she believes in half birthdays. Enough said.

Curtis Moore - my Manitoba-born relatives should check out Curtis' work - this slideshow in particular

Kate L - is a full time music student who also works as a photographer; she gets some amazing shots of her fellow students, very cool

Kimberlee West - one of the Boudoir Divas, she has done amazing boudoir photos - something that would be interesting to get in to

Check these ones out, I'll share more of my favourites another time.

EstrogenFest - Cape Breton

Septembers mean road trips for me.

Road Trips, EstrogenFest, Girlie Weekends - doesn't matter what you call it, 5 or 6 of us girls pile into a vehicle and hit the road.

We always have a destination in mind. Year 1 was Prince Edward Island; Year 2 was New Brunswick; Year 3 was Nova Scotia (the Valley and South Shore); Year 4 was Cape Breton, NS.

It's the only time of the year we all get together and we have a great time catching up and getting all the gossip. We do some sightseeing, take some pictures, hunt down Canadian Idol finalists (we didn't find one but we did manage to get directions to his house!).

We didn't have great weather on this particular trip to Cape Breton - obviously good enough to get our feet wet at the beach, but that was about it.

We stopped at Glenora Distillery - no samples to be had, though.

There was some rain and lots of fog but none of that stopped us. We managed a few stops to get cool shots.
