Hurricane...

Apparently, Hurricane Bill is on his way. I'm one of those people who will be hitting up the grocery store at some point today to ensure I can make it through in case we lose power.

I think I dread the grocery store more than the hurricane. I avoid the grocery store at all costs on the weekend - everyone else is there and people are crazy when they're shopping in a crowded grocery store. I once had someone yell at me because I was in the way - um, I stopped to allow an older person to exit the aisle. I still wish I had turned to the moron who yelled at me and said something to him, but I was in shock that my being polite to someone else would infuriate him. I mean really, it's groceries, chill, relax, try not to be an idiot.

And so I will muster up all of my courage and venture out and pick up all my necessary supplies.
*let's be real... by supplies, I mean snacks*

This will be my third hurricane here in the city: Edward, Juan, and now Bill. Figures, they're all boys!

Wish me luck...

Chick Flicks...

I've been such a bad blogger - with editing and shooting and just trying to cope with the heat, the poor blog hasn't even crossed my mind.

Tonight I took a night off from it all and headed to an air-conditioned movie theatre to see Julie & Julia. Of course, it's a movie about a blog so I left the theatre with considerable guilt and a vow to some day blog every day for a month. I don't know which month yet, maybe one next year. ;-)

As for the movie, it was pretty good; I'd give it about a 7 out of 10 stars. Maybe a 6 - good, but somehow not completely satisfying, as though there were something missing toward the end.

What has surprised me in the last few movies I've gone to is the choice of new movie trailers they have been showing. I'm your typical chick flick girl; if I'm watching a chick flick, chances are good I'll be back to see another one at a later date. I'm not coming back to watch a thriller or anything that has me remotely on the edge of my seat. So why show me a preview of The Stepfather? Or the Surrogates? Shutter Island?

I think it's a safe bet that all the older ladies at tonight's show won't be going to see these movies either. I spent the better part of the previews looking at my popcorn and avoiding the action-packed teasers.

But that's just me.

Back to the grind. I have some upcoming posts I'm excited to share... a wedding, a family shoot, and some babies! Soon, I promise. Until then, maybe I'll just share my movie reviews.
