January 1, 2010

As I sit and write, it's stormy outside my window.  The first storm of the new year; a year only 18 hours old and full of promise.  I try not to resolve to do anything particular this year as I have a full list of failed resolutions behind me.  Don't we all do it?  We resolve to quit smoking, to eat better, to exercise, to be better people... and by January 3, we're in our cars, having a smoke while driving to some unknown fast food joint and yelling at the other cars in our way.  Not me, of course - I quit smoking long ago (the rest I'll admit to).

I can tell you that last year was an interesting one, but I'm glad to have it over with and begin fresh.  It was a year of promise (my new photography adventure, how exciting!), a year of new beginnings (weddings and babies for friends), a year of struggle (a loved one battling cancer), a year of strength and resolve (beating cancer with grace and optimism!), a year of family (the ones nearby and the ones away) and friends who are full of support and love.

It's time to put 2009 to bed and to look forward to the unknown possibilities for 2010, but first a thank you.  Thanks for stopping in and checking out my little blog.  I don't know who you are, but I know you're stopping in.  Thanks to those of you who leave comments (I love blog love!).   Thanks to my family and friends for supporting me (and for being my guinea pigs when needed).  Thanks to those who have trusted me to capture the moments in their lives, it's been an honour and I am humbled by it.

And so we move on 2010.  Let's embrace it and make it one to remember!
